Campaign Supernova (The Second City) – 5/31/08

The Second City's "Campaign Supernova" (5/31/08) is the best revue the group has produced since I've been watching them. Quirky but not forced, and as hilarious and irreverent/relevant as ever.

A Taste of Honey (Shattered Globe Theatre) – 5/30/08

Shattered Globe put on a powerfully-acted revival of Shelagh Delaney's "A Taste of Honey" (5/30/08). Premiered in 1958, it's amazing how contemporary much of the themes/situations in "Honey" are: overt sexuality, single motherhood, homosexuality. But what struck me as most potent about the play was its discourse on what family is and how one can find it in the most unexpected vessels.

Wilkommen

First blog here from Adrian Dimanlig. Those of you who know me know that I am a HUGE fan of the performing arts, especially here in my hometown of Chicago. Now that I have free time (having been laid off from my real job), I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share my experiences in blog form. I hope you enjoy, and please let me know if you have any questions and/or comments!
