Shostakovich's stirring Symphony #5 was simply breathtaking. The last movement is one of the great pieces of symphonic writing, and to hear the CSO proclaim it (ahhh, that brass section!) was an utter treat. It was great to hear it live after listening to it for years on disc.Rating: **** (out of *****)
